Gault&Millau's review 2025

The historic, over 400-year-old Gasthaus Löwen offers well-made cuisine with ambitious seasoning from regional animal husbandry below the Heiligenberg in the small village of Altheim - in the beautiful parlour or in summer in the secluded guest garden under old chestnut trees. Landlady Isolde Pfaff and her son Roman serve smoked salmon trout with caramelised red cabbage puff pastry tart, tender pink lamb fillet in port wine dumplings, grilled rump steak with truffled savoy cabbage and vegetarian alternatives.
