Peter Hagen-Wiest cooks at a consistently high level in the red and white striped lighthouse - and thus offers haute cuisine without hocus-pocus, according to his own description. In a place like Europa-Park, with its omnipresent bit of magic and show, this is an unusual statement - as if it were a matter of verbally underpinning the serious gourmet cuisine claim, which Hagen-Wiest does not need at all. After all, he has not only been cooking in Rust since yesterday, and he also knows that the hypes that are so important for an amusement park, such as the current Eatrenalin with its also eight-course fine-dining menu of floating chairs and multimedia displays, speak a completely different language than his incomparably quieter menu sequence - he masters both with aplomb. The best proof for him may be that the majority of the public from nearby France flocks to the Ammolite – and for a dyed French gourmet in recent years, it must be a great effort to dine at the Boches, despite all the positive developments in German cuisine in recent years. Nevertheless, they come – and Hagen-Wiest can confidently feel like the brave spearhead of the true culinary "Amitié" (the name of another new restaurant of the Mack Group, this time on the French side of the Rhine). He lives up to this in a relaxed manner with his menus "Green Forest" (vegetarian) and "Around the World" – both based on the best product quality, clear structure, precise aromatics, impeccable kitchen craftsmanship, a fine sense of aesthetics, a harmonious wine accompaniment and, above all, a well-dosed portion of creativity – and that, in its entirety, is precisely the magic that distinguishes the Ammolite.
