Gault&Millau's review 2025

A place that breathes history and inspires with modern nonchalance. In the light-flooded restaurant of the Hotel Elephant, the elegance of past eras and the joy of experimentation of the present merge. Under the high ceiling, an ambience unfolds that convinces with clear lines and charming details - artistic accents included. The kitchen creatively reinterprets regional traditions: Thuringian game with sugar snap peas and truffle jus or risotto with asparagus, dill and tomato - optionally with shrimp or beef. The finale is cheese from the affineur Waltmann, bread and chutney. The wine list focuses on German wines, with a focus on the eastern regions and the Moselle. A place that will be remembered: multifaceted and surprising.
