Gault&Millau's review 2025

The view of the Chiemgau from the wonderful terrace of the Aschbacher Hof could not be more beautiful - and otherwise we imagine a well-kept Bavarian country inn in our dreams pretty much exactly as it is here. Heiko Obermaier does not serve any margin-oriented tourist bargain (which would come to mind for some others in this location), but rock-solid upscale cuisine such as Inntaler char of the best quality. During the hunting season, the visit is doubly worthwhile: Whether venison goulash or the juicy pheasant breast filled with truffle farce - the menu is richly stocked. We liked the "gourmet menu" with scallops beforehand and steaks of local venison with juniper cream sauce, glazed herb mushrooms, bacon Brussels sprouts, homemade curd spaetzle and wild cranberries. Classically good! And please: leave room for dessert!
