Gault&Millau's review 2025

The house is already a poem from the outside: the representative half-timbered building dates back to the 14th century, and this is also noticeable in the two white-covered, cosy dining rooms, where patron Rainer Döringer serves upscale, French-influenced country house cuisine based on good, honest products. Not for vegetarians are the juicy and crispy beef or veal flank steaks grilled by chef Daniel Geib, accompanied by classic side dishes (French fries, broccoli) on the menu or as part of the menu, just as little as the solidly portioned, perfectly fried tranche of foie gras with a ring of duck liver mousse with cranberry and a deep port wine jus. If you like, you can also enjoy simpler dishes such as freshly sliced Serrano or Iberico ham of the best quality, accompanied by wine from his neighbouring wine shop. We didn't decide whether it could also be ordered by means of a written card, but we were happy to follow the recommendations of the patron, even without experiencing an unpleasant surprise in terms of price. Honest, good hospitality.
