Beautiful views and insights are also important when visiting a restaurant, after all, as we all know, the eye eats with you. If you want to enjoy Nils Henkel's cuisine at the Hotel Papa Rhein, you should reserve a seat in the front row "Waterfront". From here, the view of the Alter Strom and the Rüdesheimer Berg on the other side of the river is not only magnificent, it has something relaxed. This fits in with the casual ambience of the restaurant in its moderate shabby look and the relaxed tone that is adopted by all employees here. Sympathetic crew spirit with the feeling that everything will be fine. And it will, because Nils Henkel and his team confidently walk with their dishes between a modernly inspired down-to-earthness and an unpretentious gourmet touch. Maritim, the journey begins with Henkel's finely spicy fish soup, in which perfectly cooked pieces of gurnard, zander, sea bream, squid and scallops cavort. Land is in sight with the tender, wonderfully aromatic meat of the reed rooster. Poultry of the very finest, served with spring onions and mushroom dumplings in an excellent dukkah jus. When Nils Henkel reaches into the garden box, it becomes first-class vegetarian, for example with zucchini flowers and caper leaves on a lightly smoked mash of mimolette. Afterwards, a warm chocolate casserole with Kalamansi sorbet, and everything is good. And even better.
