Gault&Millau's review 2025

Well-established, uncomplicated restaurant with bare wooden tables, leather benches and floor-to-ceiling wall shelves – apparently everyone is here on a first-name basis with founder Jochen (T-shirt, Nikes) and partner Max (always jacket plus pocket square). The Dantler is a deli primarily at lunchtime with pastrami, ramen and a changing pasta dish à la carte. In the evening, there is only the five-course menu; cheese and another fish course complement it as a choice or additional option. Fresh herbs and crunchy vegetables, salted lemon, chopped nuts and brown butter put early summer on the tongue all year round. By concentrating on this fixed circle of aromas, each Dantler menu is very harmonious and coherent and comes along with a certain opulence. The dishes are united by their carefully arranged presentation on Scandinavian-inspired tableware; the wine selection is cleverly focused on Germany with a focus on Riesling and on Austria.
