Truly, a unique place – inside a bistro with a sympathetic patina, outside perhaps the most beautiful little summer terrace in the city. It is a family atmosphere in Frankfurt's most French restaurant – hardly a guest is not greeted with a big hello and handshake, nowhere else are there so many regular guests, be they business or private gourmets, who sometimes only enjoy one or two courses, but also like to enjoy the large (four-course!) menu. At the table, the young service acts affable, familiar, relaxed and knowledgeable – you don't have the impression of sitting in a veritable top restaurant. This is followed by a small menu (with a focus on a formidable à la carte offer, how wonderfully uncontemporary) and an impressively large wine list – everyone will find something here, especially since you are welcome to follow the recommendations. After a concise three-piece amuse-bouche, we start with souffléed egg with chanterelles, peas, Iberico and an intense, but never dominant poultry jus – chef Valery Mathis knows how to combine perfect craftsmanship with a wealth of aromas and let the individual elements shine per se. To kneel down, the lobster with pea gnocchi, spring vegetables in a light but pointed lobster cognac jus - this is classic and modern at the same time, as you still have desire and appetite afterwards. That would also be a shame, because the combination of pigeon and foie gras in the savoy cabbage leaf simply has to be tried, it is not found enough on the menus in this quality in this country. Rounded off by an outstanding crème brûlée, we end the evening and wish that every day would be an Erno's day. You would have to live in Frankfurt's Westend, maybe we would be a little more immune to the quite ambitious pricing?
