Gault&Millau's review 2025

In the traditional country inn of the Wekerles, homemade quality and the rural idyll of southern Baden are combined. The cuisine follows a clear Baden signature with Mediterranean influences: free-range duck breast on red wine onions and grilled polenta, tender saddle steak from pasture-raised beef under a Pommery mustard crust, served with a creamy potato gratin - all this is prepared with great dedication and attention to detail. The sweet conclusion is provided by a Baden braided bag, accompanied by plum stewed and vanilla cream ice cream. The carefully compiled menu reflects the closeness to nature: the bread is still baked in-house, the game comes from the Schwaninger hunt, and the eggs come directly from the hotel's own chicken garden. An excellent wine list with regional wines and a Schwaninger cider from the in-house distillery round off the culinary experience.
