Gault&Millau's review 2025

In his country inn, Denis Michael Kleinknecht masterfully succeeds in creating a perfect balance between gourmet creations and traditional dishes. Regionality and sustainability are not just buzzwords, but characterize every preparation and offer a consistently enjoyable experience. Against gastronomic resignation, he relies on diversity: The concept of "one guest room – three menus" combines Bavarian-Swabian tavern classics, the finest steaks such as Irish Black Angus and Japanese Wagyu cubes as well as a sophisticated gourmet menu with up to six courses. Dishes such as beetroot with truffle caviar or smoked lake trout from the Birnbaum fish farm impress with their quality and craftsmanship. On Thursdays, and here the proven continuity shines as long as stocks last, delicious steamed dumplings, which are prepared both sweet and savoury, rounded off by a fine wine list and friendly, competent service.
