Everything is the same in the Art Nouveau villa in Bad Godesberg - and that's a good thing. Because apart from the fact that it is sometimes very, very difficult to get a seat at Irmgard and Rainer-Maria Halbedel's, there is really nothing, absolutely nothing to complain about - unless you were looking forward to experimental, modern cuisine. There is no such thing here. But the very best traditional classic - and has been for decades. Rainer-Maria Halbedel will celebrate his sixtieth anniversary at the stove next year - and will look back on a working life that, according to the standards of the young generation, would probably have been enough for three, four or more. Nevertheless, he is not thinking about quitting – at least officially – and we hope that it will stay that way for a long time to come and that we will be able to listen to his recommendations for many years to come, because the master does not miss the opportunity to visit the table. There are six or seven courses (with or without cheese, alternatively everything vegetarian), plus a well-curated wine list. And a very product-oriented cuisine, which is not least given a freshness kick by ingredients from our own garden in the Eifel. Precision and gentleness characterize the plates, whether it's the classic saddle of venison in deep port wine jus or the red mullet fried on the skin with kohlrabi textures: nothing leaves the kitchen that can't stand on its own, no weak course disappoints in the menu sequence that Irmgard Halbedel serves as stylishly as warmly. Reserve very early - it's worth it!
