Gault&Millau's review 2025

In May 2024, Hawara found its new home in the former "Klösterle" on Dreikönigstraße. After a creative break, Jannik Spielmann and Nico Heuer continue their journey here as a couple and bring the essentials to the table with Japanese-inspired cuisine. Puristic, but never boring, the menu combines regional flavors and international influences into a harmonious whole. The name "Hawara", which means "good friend" in Viennese dialect, reflects their close friendship. In the restaurant, the fermentation jars stand out, emphasizing the craft of preserving and pickling. The vegetables come from their own garden in St. Georgen, the meat from regional producers and are processed according to the nose-to-tail principle. On Wednesdays, Hawara is transformed into a bistro with classics such as beef tartare or beef bourguignon. From Thursday to Saturday, creative menus surprise guests. The drinks menu offers both natural wines and artisanal classics as well as a refreshing non-alcoholic alternative made from ferments and essences. At Hawara, "friendship on the plate" is more than a promise – it can be felt in every dish.
