Gault&Millau's review 2025

The former Café Heiderand in Loschwitz has undergone a major transformation from a dance tea address under the new management of Martin Walther (in the fourth generation) to a restaurant that is also a culinary delight: you can sit at bare wooden tables in the tastefully dark grey dining room and enjoy either upscale, classic Saxon cuisine with a Silesian touch à la carte such as venison tartare or veal strips or (our recommendation) ambitious and cosmopolitan menus with (water & pasture) or without meat and fish (field & bed) in three to five courses. A good choice with a seasonally changing composition and the best product and kitchen quality, such as Danish wild zander in buttermilk broth, pierogies in dashi or good meat dishes, mainly from regional suppliers, plus vegetables and herbs from our own cultivation. Not only visually, but also in terms of taste, exceptionally good and creative pâtisserie. A vegan menu variant is available on pre-order, the well-stocked wine list lists regional wines as well as French and Italian classics, plus excursions to the nearby Czech Republic. Recommended!
