Gault&Millau's review 2025

"Hof" is quite an understatement for the feudal Renaissance ensemble, in whose beautiful, cosy, cobbled courtyard or in the magnificent, historic parlour, hostess Sabine Kogge has a cuisine served that is no less attractive: There is a small gourmet menu with a two- to four-course menu in omnivorous or vegetarian variants, as well as the Höerhof worlds of enjoyment with three to five courses from Wednesday to Saturday, which can also be ordered à la carte. But that would be a shame, because you would miss the iced Moscow Mule as an intermediate sorbet. Günter Rönner cooks precisely and creatively, arranges artistic plates without being aloof. Fresh products of the best quality are always at the centre of his cuisine, whose specific aromas Rönner skilfully brings out, such as in the combination of blue sea bream with smoked almond in the mushroom dashi (which, despite its intensity, supported the aroma of the bream and did not drown it out). Classic, on the other hand, is the crepinette of lamb with very slightly citrusy gremolata, and the prawn cooked to perfection in the saffron broth is as sophisticated as it is appealing. Good, comprehensive wine selection with a focus on Germany.
