Jan Diekjobst combines two worlds with his restaurant in the Detmolder Hof: on the one hand, the traditional hotel with a colourful mixed clientele in the chic brasserie with bare wooden tables and blue walls, lively and loud. On the other, the concentrated modern gourmet cuisine, which he learned in his stations with Thomas Martin, Christian Bau or Kevin Fehling, for example, and which he implements here quite independently. The fact that you should request autograph cards from the chef through his management, as the website says, we take as an expression of East Westphalian humour, but a little arrogance is also allowed with the class of what is on offer, and his Wiener Schnitzel is again simply good and down-to-earth. So two worlds here too. In addition to the à la carte plates, three to seven courses make non-schnitzel eaters full and happy, because for them Diekjobst reaches deep into the classic box of upscale cuisine: yellowtail mackerel, lobster, caviar, scallops, (unstuffed) duck liver, pigeon breast. All of this comes to the table in well-composed complex, finely tweezed plate works of art and also convinces with precise cooking points.
