Gault&Millau's review 2025

The way to Düsseldorf on the other side of the Rhine is not far - but not necessary either. Because one of the best Japanese addresses in the region has been located in Haus Meer in Meerbusch since 2024, but only for the lucky few: The light-wood room in the basement offers only six seats, above which multi-restaurateur Anthony Sarpong (Anthony's Kitchen, Haus Phoenixsee) serves international bistro cuisine. After stops in Japan, the USA, Seoul and his Oyster Lodge in Bad Vilbel, sushi master Jay Lee puts together a twenty-course omakase menu on his behalf from the very best ingredients: Pur, as Junsui is called in German, it is pure, which, similar to the now closed Ernst in Berlin, also means an absolute focus on what is on offer - so Junsui would definitely be the wrong place for the first date. What is served in the evening is only decided after the daily fish delivery - you can expect it to be characterized by the best quality and sensitive preparation.
