Gault&Millau's review 2025

The "Käfer" is a permanent fixture in Munich's gastronomy scene and is located on Prinzregentenstraße, in the charming Belle Époque-style corner house. Here, delicatessen and restaurant meet in style, and the Käfer tavern on the first floor also impresses with its cosy, stylish country house style. The kitchen offers classics such as the lobster cocktail, which seduces with its tender, sweet lobster and a hint of sea breeze. The tagliolini with white truffle (2 g, but of course expandable as desired) are always a good choice. For lovers of traditional dishes, there is the Wiener Schnitzel with hand-stirred cranberries, while the grilled Icelandic Arctic char with celery mousseline and champagne chive sauce is a sophisticated alternative. The cuisine convinces with the highest quality and is unfussy. If you still have room for something sweet, you can look forward to the freshly prepared Kaiserschmarrn.
