Gault&Millau's review2025
Full of anticipation, you stop at the Ritter Durbach - because the family-run hotel has a long culinary tradition. Shortly after our first test visit this year, which we kept in mixed memory, the Makidan changed its concept: probably also because it wasn't just us. So away from the claim to a "cuisine that reaches for the stars" (or toques) to a very appealing, daily changing four-course menu that interprets Black Forest cuisine in a modern way: "Black Forest Soul Food", such as breast and leg of black-feathered chicken or Altenheim trout with almonds on Saturdays. The only thing that remains the same is selected cheese from affineur Waltmann and the proven hospitality at the Ritter. In addition to the courses, a course from the "Mindfulness Journey" can be booked, such as celery from the salt dough.
