Gault&Millau's review 2025

In the middle of the picturesque Baden Wine Route lies a historic country inn that has been family-owned since 1750. The charming Black Forest house with wood-panelled parlours and idyllic garden terrace serves excellent Baden cuisine (with Alsatian influences). Chef Karl Hodapp has been proving his skills at a consistently high level for years. Whether it's fine Baden zander with salmon dumplings on noodles and spinach strips, refined with creamy foam sauce, or stuffed guinea fowl breasts with chive cream sauce, turnip puree and golden spaetzle - every dish is a treat. A well-curated wine list at moderate prices rounds off the offer. It's nice that such places still exist!
