Gault&Millau's review 2025

Felix Bechtolf is no stranger to Hamburg: The former chef of the Jacobs Restaurant in the Louis C. Jacob under Thomas Martin has set up his own business in the former Bistro Ruperti in Nienstedten. Not around the corner, but worth the trip: Félix offers French bistro cuisine comme il faut on the one hand, and more ambitious French dishes on the other, which are served unpretentious and well in the beautiful Eckhaus restaurant with blue-tiled walls. Bechtolf knows how it's done: He worked for a long time in Paris with Gordon Ramsay and Éric Fréchon, among others. Here, the Breton oysters, the roasted goose liver with distinctive smoked eel in a truffle broth or a classic canard with flambéed oranges come just as well to the table as a formidable steak frites or the fried calf's head with gribiche sauce. Go there!
