In Müsch near Adenau, deep in the Ahr valley on the road, lies Sion's Eifel smokehouse, which looks more or less like a larger snack bar: a few parking spaces, a functional building and thick wooden benches directly on the thoroughfare, opposite a makeshift bridge. The inconspicuous exterior, however, turns out to be a real stroke of luck, because it houses a fine salmon smokehouse with authentic culinary standards, even if a group of motorcyclists next door just orders a cold drink. At the 24-hour salmon omat, you can make fish terrines, lobster soup and freshly smoked salmon slices - or buy all kinds of fresh seafood inside at the fish counter, smoked, pickled, as a salad or fresh. And last but not least, you can also eat very well here: crispy fresh Gillardeau oysters with three kinds of vinaigrettes, for example. Or a perfect trout terrine with roe and wild herb bitter salad in horseradish stock. Formidabel! The home-smoked "Stramme Lachs" with fried egg on bread or more sophisticated dishes such as confit, crispy-juicy loup de mer with onsen egg on young spinach and plenty of truffles in finely foamed bisque comme il faut - no, better: perfectly cooked, juicy and generously portioned at a low price. If a dish is out, it is reconfigured depending on the counter location, but the cooking point, sauces and quality remain consistent. In addition, the menu lists wines from Dr. Loosen or J. J. Prüm. Only open at lunchtime and definitely worth a stop.
