Gault&Millau's review 2025

The Valentin has changed its concept: from "Valentin Fine Dining" with experimental, seasonal multi-course tapas menus to the "Valentin Wine & Dine" – a well-stocked wine list comprising the 550 items, with a focus on the three Bs – Lake Constance, Burgundy, Bordeaux – a selection of some colourfully compiled international à la carte dishes (tuna tartare with edamame and avocado, steak tartare with fried egg or pasta al tartufo) and an equally colourful five-course menu, for which you should bring time – especially on weekends, the service is quickly overwhelmed. In mid-2025, the gourmet concept, which is currently only rudimentarily flashing, is to be "exported" from the restaurant to a new location and the spacious, cosy vaulted cellar on Lindau Island (with a beautiful backyard terrace in summer) will be dedicated entirely to the theme of the vinotheque. In view of the palpable ambiguities in a kitchen that can do much more than it shows, it was certainly a good decision.
