Gault&Millau's review 2025

When you think of luxury hotels and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, you usually end up on the coast. Or at Schlitz Castle. Surrounded by 100 hectares of its own land, the white neo-Gothic building makes you feel like a landlord from the old days. A dream in white (except for the parquet floor, which is inlaid with elaborate inlays) is also the high coat of arms hall, where Maik Albrecht invites you to the table in style. His cuisine, creatively interpreted on a classic basis, serves four or six courses with international ingredients, focusing on good product quality, harmoniously balanced aromas and, in addition to a slight penchant for sweet-acid contrasts, above all on very good sauces. No wonder - Maik Albrecht was head chef for years in the Köhlerstube (today "1789") and farmhouse parlour of Traube Tonbach and then threw the Hamburg Palazzo for Harald Wohlfahrt before he hired on the luxury windjammers of Sea Cloud Cruises. It's nice that he has culinary convincing solid ground under him again!
