Gault&Millau's review 2025

Hidden in a small, quiet street parallel to the pedestrian zone is the Weinhaus Neuner, which immediately lets you feel the pulse of the city with its charm. You enter and are greeted by a pleasantly unagitated atmosphere - no kitsch, no exaggerated decorations, but an honest, timeless inn with natural elegance. The special thing here is the service - relaxed, but never intrusive. The charismatic Frank Glüer and his team manage to create an almost familiar atmosphere in which you immediately feel welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed, without hectic, and gives the guests time to arrive in peace. Here, too, we have to repeat our summary of the previous year, but it is one of the "evergreens" in this house: probably the best lettuce, served whole and with a delicious vinaigrette, à part. A classic is the wafer-thin, tender Viennese veal schnitzel, fried with an airy, golden-brown breading, and the fried Arctic char fillet also harmonizes perfectly with tender pointed cabbage, rounded off by the fine acidity of the apple cider vinegar foam. If you still have room for dessert, the oven-fresh Kaiserschmarrn is an excellent choice. The well-stocked wine list includes Rieslings from the Rheingau and the Palatinate as well as wonderfully matured red Bordeaux. The open qualities are often served from impressive large bottles.
