Gault&Millau's review 2025

The "sechszehn15" in the White Horse Inn in Burkardroth-Stralsbach describes itself as a "culinary living room" - named after the year the traditional inn was founded. It is more casual, and what the Rhön (and one or two dishes beyond) have to offer is ambitiously cooked in five or six courses with all kinds of amuses: saddle of venison in a pepper crust in red cabbage jus, scallops with pumpkin and salted lemon or glazed sweetbreads come to the table finely arranged and just as well seasoned. But the main restaurant also has good things to offer – a little more rustic, but still prepared to the point: the low-temperature cooked Rhön Duroc pork neck, for example, or flamed regional salmon trout. Everything is well done across the board and adapted to the season every month. A feel-good place!
